Petra Bubble Luxotel

We decided to travel to Petra, Jordan to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. This was our first time traveling to the Middle East, but after seeing Petra Bubble Luxotel featured in a vogue travel article a little over a year ago, we decided we have to experience it for ourselves. After all, we are always up for a unique experience/adventure, right? With this being a big celebration, we decided to go hard with a 10 day vacation - first stop: Petra Bubble Luxotel! Check out our full itinerary here.

Our experience at this unique glamping resort was incredible - the pictures really don’t do it justice. Situated in the Petra mountains, the bubbles are designed with clear ceilings in the bedrooms so you can take in the vast/expansive views and count the stars at night. During the evening, you can catch the most beautiful sunsets from your balcony. There are several bubble glamping experience resorts in Jordan. We selected this one specifically because of it’s modern decor and unique amenity of having a private outdoor hot tub in each bubble. The bubbles are a little bit more “rustic” than I expected, but overall I still give the resort a 10 out of 10 and would go back in a heartbeat. However, I will note, if you are looking for a luxury experience with a large bathroom and soak in tub, this might not be your cup of tea. We booked the King Suite bubble, which hosts it’s own living room area + bedroom. The bathroom and shower area are pretty compact (which is expected for glamping), with a double facing sink + shower combo.

Petra Bubble Luxotel has it’s own hookah lounge that is an experience in and of itself. It’s like a “glamping hookah lounge” - to put it simply, imagine an airstream decked out in middle-eastern cloth with a fireplace. We went almost every night. Meals are provided throughout your stay in a shared dining area, consisting of a combination of international and traditional Jordanian cuisine. (side note: The resort doesn’t serve alcohol, so I recommend purchasing some on your way in.) The staff at the resort were so incredibly attentive and kind. They really become like your extended family during your stay.

Just 15 minutes from the bubble luxotel is the city of Petra, where you see the historic treasury buildings. (Tip: if you go, wear comfortable shoes). The hotel offers a free shuttle that will take you downtown and bring you back. We hiked up 9500 steps (equivalent of 6.5 miles) and saw the highest point in Petra overtop the peak of the mountains. The views were insane and it truly was a unique experience. If it’s not yet on your list, add Jordan! With Egypt next on our itinerary, we didn’t have time to visit other cities in Jordan, but in addition to Petra, I would recommend adding Aqaba and Amman.
