R&R in Hurghada, Egypt
Our final destination for our 10-day long “dessert tour” ended in Hurghada, Egypt – Egypt’s best kept secret in our eyes! Upon landing, you immediately feel the luxury, free living, beachy vibes. We couldn’t believe we were still in Egypt. The feels was definitely giving a beach in Spain somewhere with much cleaner beaches. Most beaches in Hurghada are private beaches and in order to access them you need to be a resident or guest. Our resort of choice was Casa Cook, El Gouna where we spent the next couple of days. We were due for some much needed R&R after glamping in the middle east, sand boarding in El Fayoum, and having brunch overseeing the pyramids. Casa Cook checked out to be the perfect place.
We opted for the Junior Suite with a sea view. Don’t let the term “junior” fool you. The place was huge with an outdoor and indoor rain shower, king sized bed, and more importantly, a huge plunge pool overlooking the Red Sea. There is only one restaurant on the resort but you can always hitch a tuk-tuk downtown which is about a 5 minute ride. We should say the on-site restaurant had plenty of options for breakfast and dinner. In addition to the restaurant, there is a community pool/hang-out area that serves lunch and dinner as well. Oh, and they also serve hookah – pool side. Again, it almost felt like we were in Spain with the hip (low) music, hookah blowing, cocktail sipping, chill day party swanky vibes. We spent most of our time hanging out on our back patio enjoying the plunge pool, reading, and taking in the sunrise/sunsets. It could get a little windy at night so a jacket or hoodie is needed, preferably an Always the Weekend Hoodie!
Intrigued by the Red Sea, we decided to take a yacht out for a day. This deserves a hashtag #2ndBestDayEver. Snorkeling is a must as the marine life in the Red Sea is booming! Be forewarned, the Sea is salty but one of the most beautiful turquoise and blue waters we’ve been in. After swimming by a couple big fish about our size we decided to come back on-board the boat where we popped bubbly and tried to pin-point where Moses parted the sea. Downtown Hurghada was vibrant and popping with many different types of restaurants and cuisines. We ended up eating at a West African restaurant (where we were reminded we are still in Africa!) and the food was amazing. Hurghada is really Egypt’s best kept secret and we now see why. Already looking forward to our return.
Jordan > Cairo > Hurghada owes us nothing!
